read this again, after the first time almost a month prior. what is most striking for me is that it is quite true that nobody had heard of senator obama before three years ago? is that a good thing/bad thing/value neutral?
of course experience counts, but anybody who has passed the age limit for the presidency has experience at something. Given that so many people have been outraged at the conduct of the last two presidents, both southern state executives, and their underlings, with centuries of combined experience in industry, federal government, perhaps is it time to be more specific about what SORT of experience we will require of those who aspire to the presidency.
everybody in this race has at least few decades of what we can call "public service" under their belts, but many also have a lot of experience making the kind of faustian deals with themselves and with the public that make us loathe our public servants and our government.
something to keep in mind. nice post tito.
